The Beadlet Anemone is a small, blob-like creature found stuck to rocks in rockpools. It usually looks like a shiny red or dark green jelly when the tide is out, but underwater it opens up to reveal short tentacles like tiny fingers. It uses these tentacles to sting and catch small animals, such as shrimp and tiny fish. Even though it looks harmless, it's a predator in the pool! Beadlet anemones are also very tough—they can survive being out of water when the tide goes out by pulling in their tentacles to keep from drying out. They help control small animal numbers in the rockpool and are a sign of a healthy, thriving habitat.
