The Common Limpet is a small sea snail with a strong, cone-shaped shell that sticks tightly to rocks in rockpools. It uses a rough tongue to scrape algae and tiny plants off the rocks for food, helping to keep the rockpool clean. Limpets are very good at holding on, even when waves crash against the shore. By grazing on algae, they prevent it from growing too much and taking over the space, which helps other creatures survive. Limpets are an important part of the rockpool community and show that the environment is healthy.
